【摘要】:Theintegritytestmethodsdescribedareusedtodeterminetheintegrityofmembranesystems,andareapplicabletosystemscontainingmembranemoduleconfigurationsofbothhollowfiberandflatsheet;suchas,spiral-woundconfiguration.InallcasesthepracticesapplytomembranesintheRO,NF,andUFmembraneclasses.However,theTOCandDyeTestpracticesdonotapplytomembranesintheMFrangeortheupperendoftheUFporesizerange(0.01x03BC;mandlargerporesizes)duetoinsignificantorinconsistentremovalofTOCmaterialbythesemembranes.Thesemethodsmaybeusedtoidentifyrelativechangesintheintegrityofasystem,orusedinconjunctionwiththeequationsdescribedin9.4,toprovideameansofestimatingtheintegrityintermsoflogreductionvalue.Forcriticalapplications,estimatedlogreductionsusingtheseequationsshouldbeconfirmedbyexperimentfortheparticularmembraneandsystemconfigurationused.Theabilityofthemethodstodetectanygivendefectisaffectedbythesizeofthesystemorportionofthesystemtested.Selectingsmallerportionsofthesystemtotestwillincreasethesensitivityofthetesttodefects.Whendeterminingthesizethatcanbetestedasadiscreteunit,usetheguidelinessuppliedbythesystemmanufacturerorthegeneralguidelinesprovidedinthisstandard.Theapplicabilityofthetestsislargelyindependentofsystemsizewhenmeasuredintermsoftheimpactofdefectsonthetreatedwaterquality(thatis,thesystemLRV).Thisisbecausethebypassflowfromanygivendefectisdilutedinproportiontothesystemstotalflowrate.Forexample,a10-modulesystemwithasingledefectwillproducethesamewaterqualityasa100-modulesystemwithtenofthesamesizedefects.1.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationoftheintegrityofwaterfiltrationmembraneelementsandsystemsusingairbasedtests(pressuredecayandvacuumhold),solubledye,continuousmonitoringparticulatelightscattertechniques,andTOCmonitoringtestsforthepurposeofrejectingparticlesandmicrobes.Thetestsareapplicabletosystemswithmembranesthathaveanominalporesizelessthanabout1x00B5;m.TheTOC,andDye,testsaregenerallyapplicabletoNFandROclassmembranesonly.1.2Thispracticedoesnotpurporttocoverallavailablemethodsofintegritytesting.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.7.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationofintegrityformembranesystemsusingthepressuredecaytest(PDT)andvacuumdecaytest(VDT).7.2Thetestsmaybeusedonmembranesinallclasses,ROthroughMF,andaresuitableforhollowfibers,tubularandflatsheet(suchasspiralwound)configurations.However,thePDTismostcommonlyemployedforin-situtestingofUFandMFsystemsandtheVDTfortestingNFandROelementsandsystems.SeePracticeD3923.10.1ThispracticeisapplicablewherethemembranesystemandwatersourcewillallowthemonitoringofTOCbothupstreamanddownstreamofthesystem,andatleastorderofmagnitudedifferencefromthefeedcanbemeasuredinthepermeate(product)water.SeeD4839
